Βleeps ( tag name Bleeps.gr) is an Athenian artist who is mainly active in the public space.
He became familiar with street art in Bristol (UK), where he attended art studies, but abandoned after two years (2003-2005). Having gained a special interest in the political aspect of art, he returned to Greece in 2007, and got involved in the practices of political stencil and social commentary, as well as cultural interventions (cultural jamming) in the public sphere.
Progressively, he developed his protagonist characters and obtained a distinctive style in his work, combining elements of “bad painting” and references to past and contemporary art movements.
Seeking critical discourse with the viewer, either as physical or virtual appearance, Bleeps advocates a more democratic and active art. Being one of the main contributors of artivism in Greece, he has attracted the attention of the global mass media and has been included in academic publications, without compromising his extra-institutional stance.
